Old drums

Is there a way to tell when or what year a 5 piece Slingerland "Jam Session" kit was made? I have a Red, quite old(i could tell by the hardware) 5 piece Jam Session that I purchased used, close to 8 or 9 yrs. ago and I wonder if there is a number or someway that tells you, on the wood or on the badge, when it was made.
I hope it's a vintage set and am able to sell it.

Re: Old drums

Can you post pics of the drums and badges (and serial numbers if you can)?

Re: Old drums

I have not been able to find a serial # on the badges. They only read "Slingerland
Jam Session" That is the only wording on the badges. Sorry I took so long to reply but I did not expect such a fast response. Tomorrow, I will certainly take a picture(s) of the kit and of the badges. I don't have any of the original hardware that It came with, as It was quite old and non-functional. Seriously, I threw all the old hardware in the dumpster. All of the stands were very, very thin and even the foot pedal had a leather strap the was not functional. All the hardware to include footpedal were clearly stamped "Slingerland" I do believe the kit is at least 20-25 yrs. old, maybe older. Please let me know where to send the pictures. It's a beautiful kit! For sure, all the wood is clearly and without a doubt, Maple wood and the toms sound "Thuddy" very sweet sound. It came with a 14" "Slingerland" chrome snare. It's the best sounding kit I have ever had
Thank you for your inquiry.

Re: Old drums

The "Jam Session" was made from 1963 through 1975 and was designatedmodel 73N by Slingerland. What will help narrow down the year it was made would be serial numbers, and if it doesn't have serial numbers the date of manufacture should be stamped inside the shells.

What is interesting is that is has a chrome snare. This set was only offered with a chrome finish option in 1973 and I am under the impression that it was the entire set not just the snare.

Re: Old drums

Thank you very, very much. I had never played a Slngerland and they have the best sound of all. I will be posting a picture, probably on Friday. I am interested in selling them, as I have other kits to work with. I am always actively looking for a gig, Anywhere USA. It's in the blood! The Slingerland kit is a very pretty red color and extremely well cared for. I haven't found any markings on the inside of the shells, but I am going to go over them with magnifying glass and all. I will let you know as soon as Fri. if I find anything at all. Again, thank you for your time and effort.
Respectfully,
