Thumbs up The Vintage kits of tommorow

Like Cars and motor bike brands Norton, Triumph Harley Davidson, Ford and Rolls Royce. The manufacturer is as important as the product.

That applies to drums.

so what drum kits are going to be the collectors kit of the future.
The Vintage kit of tomorrow.
There are too Leaders and have always been too clear leaders.
Thats Ludwig and Premier.
Pearl are a close third but the pack of drum manufactures are all bunched in Fourth.

Like Sonnor a good manufacture that needs a stylist. so give me a call if they got it right they would be a world leader...wishy washy colours and wraps that don't please the eye they offend it. Aimed at the younger market they fail making it cheap and tacky.
The stands are average. The bass drum leg's look like a slight kick and it would be over and face up with the toms on the floor. They tried to be trendy with the SQ2 Delite and Classic but not hard enough. The ascent, select, essential, smart sound like brands of durex and are clearly for the starter range..

Yamaha again not much choice on colour schemes don't know what the phx they are talking about with this range.
PHX too much brainstorming in the canteen i think. Too much thinking and it ends up looking like an abortion. Yamaha its mikes that make a kit sound good a good engineer not a guy in a white coat and a clip board.....Sound engineers can make a craker tin sound great or a tea tray as a bass drum. Sorry Yamaha all your kits even the custom kits look like starter kits. No imagination comes to mind.

I look at it this way too much choice is bad like a chinease menu. 3 brands is all you need A pro studio a mid range gig and a starter kit and more colour ranges.

Much the Same with TAMA ,PEARL, Mapex good kits but sorry never going to be Vintage not in the same league as Premier and Ludwig as for the smaller manufactures you have to be big to get up there

D.W will never become Vintage sorry but True.......................so Buy Premier or Ludwig if you want to gain on it buy all the other brands if you want to loose Money

However the Spaun drum company could be the Slingerland of tommorow only as long as they give me a kit with a 26" bass drum in green glass so i can be John Bonham not sure about black chrome tho please!
the alternative is do what keith Moon did to his kit blow it up that sound like fun

YouTube - Keith Moon´s drum kit
explodes

I personally like Tamas alot! They are very sturdy and sound quite good! Pretty much all of their setz are worth something. I would play anything from a swingstar to a starclassic

The Problem with TAMA is they make good Kits, That sound great but they are very Regimental in there design. You look in the local adds classified and see pictures of tired boring kits... I would say they have more than killed the market with there designs on hard wear and there Bass drum Pedals with the Iron Cobra are the best. But you then look at there drums and Its like walking around Ikea or a car park full of zero's (Japanese war planes) The finishes are like Christmas wrapping paper....But the sound is good. Never Vintage.....

Interesting thoughts. I would have to be older to really be able to make much prediction.

What drum companies were around at the same time as Ludwig and Premier, but are now gone? or just obsolete and not vintage?
