Buying a used kit

so you fancy yourself as a bargain drum kit hunter.
Here are some good tips on getting your dream kit.

The Golden rule is have something in mind when you start looking for another drum kit.
Don't just phone lots of people up...
1.What drum kit do you want...sizes
2.Have some idea how many shells you want with the kit.
3.The colour does it look good and will it re-sell.
4.The model is it a well known make/model and revered by other drummers.
5.research the drum kit look on the net get prices and estimate what its worth.
do your home work
6.Research the drum kit find a date of manufacture
7.whats it worth in differing conditions
then you have a lever to say well i have seen a kit identical and its going for a lot less...

8.The make, is it well known or rare, vintage.....

9.Have a bit extra in the wallet as a bargaining tool in-case there is more items when you arrive.
10.never look shocked or surprised and give no indication what its true value is.
11. Be diciplined in your visual and don't spend too much time at the clients
12.learn to estimate in your head and strike the deal.
13.If you feel the deal is more than good give the client extra on top of the origonal price as a gesture of good will but only in exceptional circumstances.
14.The condition check the wrap look for scratches scuffs cracks d-bonding
15 incorporate the travel costs/fuel costs if you make 500 percent thats good
16.before leaving the client load the car and make sure you have everything duble check that the tom stands hard ware is in the box.....and there ya go.....you will be surprised what extras you may get thrown in... mike stands mikes speakers and other items...never turn it down..as long as you can fit it in the car...

Remember on vintage gear look at chrome for ware and if any lugs are missing.
Also try to get some history with the kit a photo when it was new of the old drummer.....All the best and happy hunting
