Exclamation Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Vs. PDP FS Birch

I'm about to buy a new drumset, and I was really looking into a birch kit. But now I'm stuck between these two kits. They're relatively the same price, and really cheap but great quality. I just don't know which one to get.

And if you guys have either kit, would you mind posting some pictures?

Thumbs down Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Vs. PDP FS Birch

close call dude flick a coin..... The PDP pacific an obsolete kit so difficult to get replacements and parts if it goes wrong is basically a DW birch kit only under a different name and not as good cost £899.
The Yamaha stage custom a well made kit £749....over £150 cheaper. you will loose about £400 selling the PDP after 3 years the Yamaha £250.......

PDP Looks nice and fittings look retro/vintage both kits sound much the same more than likely from the same birch trees .....you will loose out on re-sale on both kits heavy because there are a lot of other better more sort after kits on the second hand market.....so like buying a TAMA or a MAPEX once you buy it its for keeps..... so your stuck with it the PDP is already out of fashion.....dog....comparison fender guitars made in USA fantastic Made in Mexico throw it on the bonfire! PDP ......DW....Yamaha made by Robots for Robots poor choice of colours boreing hardware....= look at other drum manufacture's birch kit £849 Ludwig Accent CS Custom Elite........sorry dude

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Vs. PDP FS Birch

I'm also looking for a birch kit. While Yamaha has a deserved reputation in birch drums, the Stage Custom kit, in my opinion is a bit "under built" when compared to others in its price class. No rubber gaskets between lugs and drum shells, no protective gasket on the bass drum claw hooks either. Pearl, PDP, Tama, Gretsch and Mapex all have these gaskets on their mid priced drum sets, birch sets included. I own a maple PDP kit that is performing just fine.
