Re: drum storage

I store my drums in SKB cases.

It keeps out moisture and other elements from getting to them.

Their pricey but worth every cent.

Also loosen the tension on the heads before storing.

Re: drum storage

why buy expensive cases when all u need are a few moisture sachets thrown in some cheap cases...these are bags u get in parcels and boxes and u can buy them on line cheep as chips they are little beads that soak up moisture and will keep you kit dry and safe....

Re: drum storage

azzarich, Do your drums have a sealer on the inside. Gretsch uses a silver sealer that works great.

In the good old days, we used a thin film of tar watered down with kerosine. Now those were the dinosour days.

yes my friend...its grey...they sound deep too....and mellow like a vintage Jack Daniels aged keg. if u go to my Face book page "Andy Beddoes there is all sorts of stuff on there... u can see me performing at the Drum Arena in Birmingham uk on the very said kit...dude i dont come across to u as an ass-hole ...im quite a nice mellow guy really and very down to earth....u come across as a very experienced guy who has been around and done it all and its your life and soul sort of player that i try to emulate myself...I respect u for that...sort of guy i would share a beer with and talk about drums with.....

Re: drum storage

azzarich, I got a resonse from Gretsch today. Apparently their silver sealer is some secret formula. That's why it's not in that video.

Here's the response:
Hi James,
Thanks for the email. The Silver Sealer interior is a proprietary finish that has been applied to the drums since the beginning of Gretsch. It's one of the many pieces that go into "That Great Gretsch Sound." That's about all I can tell you about it unfortunately.

Regards,
Gretsch Drums
