Marching Snare w/ Drumset

Anyone every tried using a marching (high-tension) snare as their primary snare with their kit? It seems like an interesting idea. I personally like the sound of marching snares more than any other snares, but worry that it wouldn't quite fit in with most types of music.

Thoughts?

There is a huge variety of marching snares. The civil war snare as oppsoed to the Irish marching band snare for example. Then there's the big difference in the sound.

The variety is great when it comes to snare drums. A 14 x 18 snare would be a little difficult to place as a primary snare with a drum kit. Do-able but tricky.

I have a 14 x 10 as one of my two primary snares and I'm at least considering a 40 strand.
