Re: Best Bass drum pedal Poll

I personally like the Axis A Longboard. I use two of them for double basses. Axis was my first endorsement. They are extreemly fast and pretty worry free. After a year I still have no major trouble with them.
My second favorite and time tested is the old Ludwig Speed King pedal. Two of the most modern professional drummers I know both still use Speed Kings. And yes they are still made. There are a lot of 50 and 60 year old ones out there, but try a new one. They are reasonably priced too at about $120.00. People claim they squeak, that is BS for the most part. They were good for Ringo. I don't hear squeaking in any Beatle songs. Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Birds, Iron Butterfly, Blood Rock, Nitzinger, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Red Stegal……………
The Speed King is a great pedal.
It is unchanged since 1948,but that does not make it a dinosaur. It was so far ahead of it's time and remains a solid pedal today.
Just think--the parts from 2001,will fit a pedal from 1951!

Re: Best Bass drum pedal Poll

a few years ago i picked up the dw 9000 single pedal. Now it costs about 50 bucks more than it did when i bought it. I would never go back to anything else.

The Ludwig Speed King tops them all.... haha... I keep that bad boy in a storage box. My vote is for the DW's.

I tried out one of those but I choose the 9000 instead because i thought it felt better and was still in my budget, but the 5000 is still a great pedal.

Re: Best Bass drum pedal Poll

my first double pedals (circa 1991) is cheap china double pedals, that broken within a year. than i use tama double pedal (before Iron cobra) that i purchased with a standart Tama Rock Star kits.
i really love the tama, it come with wood round beater for the left side.
and then DW5000 is around the music shops.. the red colors is so tempting, so i switch to it.
i like it also.. then around 2008 i buy Mapex Janus double pedal, i broke both Right & Left chains in different occasions. and then i buy Mapex Falcon double pedals and for me falcon is the smooth easy to set pedals, really like it.. but then something goes wrong, some axes inside the right tower just broken that makes both beater is 'touching' each other everytime i play a long & fast double pedal pattern, and as i read Falcon manual, there is nothing tell me about the replacing part for my problem.

now i just wanna go back to buy a new DW5000 or Speed Cobra

.

Trick's pedals are top notch.

I use the Dominator flavor.

I have the Mapex Phantom and find it to be a pretty good pedal with a number of adjustments and swap out of weights in the mallett.Price I thought was reasonable around $189.00

Re: Best Bass drum pedal Poll

I played a Ghost for 10 years in the 60's and 70's. it was great then and I just got one on e-bay for $30 and refurbished it. I have been playing a DW 3000 for about a year and I still prefer the Ghost for smoothness and speed. I agree that they last forever if you take care of them.
