I wish to change what i have said previously, i use a medium tension on my springs and a medium tension head. It works wonders! my bass drum sounds better, i have more control, dynamics and speed, and its great for heel-toe

As tight as they will go!!!
Still playing around with Settings, just switched to Pearl Demon Drive, lots more to adjust with than my old Mapex Single Kick Pedal or PDP Double
