Slingerland Jam Session

I have a 4x14 Slingerland Jam Session snare that my cousin gave me, so I don't know much about it; the only thing I do know is that I couldn't find anything about it on Google. My problem: The screws on the throw off that hold the snare wire on will not tighten enough. I think I may have broken the threads inside of the throw off(not the screws' threads themselves). I think I'm going to try, and re-thread it, but I would still like to know more info about the snare, what throw offs will fit it, etc.. Anyone able to help?

I know the snare but have no info. Let me dig around a little. Do you have pics?

What city or country are you terrorizing?

I renember the Jam Session snare. 4x14. Crap I bought one 2 years ago from "YO MA". It was junk. I took the the black gloss wrap off , sanded with 400 grit and the applied tung oil (approx. 6 coats). Wet sanded and applied Deft clear wood finish. I put sponge in the lugs to soak up the ring that it put out. Nylon washers on the the tension screws plus aquarian textured coated power dot and clear heads and Puresound copper snare wires. Now it's a snare!

I just made this kit below last April.

You couldn't trade that snare for a bowl of crack! It's made of crappy wood. But listen to what I just said and it will sound great!.

Ok, thanks, I guess.. I just started playing, so I don't really care much about sound quality right now. Where could I find a throw off that fits it?

The butt plate was made from some alien metal. Get an ajustable one.

Where are you from??? I would worry about sound. Your ears depend upon it!. Ifd you stripped the threads, try Loc-Tite red. Have you heard of www.drummaker.com

It doesn't hurt to drill an extra hole here abd there to get a new throw off to fit. How do you like my custom Pearl Masters clone? It only cost me 600.00. 8x12,9x13,14x14.16x16.16x18.16x24, Pearl CZX snare. The snare in the pic is what I just suggeted to you to beef it up. Just using the tung oil will help.

I'll search a liitle for you and help you out. OK?

Sorry if I seem a little professional. But I had one of these and it can sound good! If you tell me where you're at' I have some extra "Pure" tung oil". Rad up on tung oil and let me know. I bought a gallon and have 97% left over. That's an 8 lug snare which means it's an ameture snare. but it can sound good with a little effort.

If I remember right, I replaced the throwoffs with Pearl ones that adjust on both ends.
