Buying a Maple kit. Suggestions?

Hello everyone.

Looking to up grade the old beat ensemble for a low-end Maple kit.

I'm cheifly looking at the Mapex pro-M. Its got a lot of choices in the tom sizes including "15 floor tom, it comes with virgin bass drums (something you can't find anywhere else for that price) and it currently comes with a bonus "12 snare.

If anyone has any suggestions regarding the quality of these sets or any others (Force 3005, PDC CX/MXR, Gretsch, Yamaha, whatever) then speak up Damn it!!

Thanks.

Mapex PRO M is an excellent choice but it's not a low end maple set !!! In fact, PRO M shell are the same as ORION (confirmed by Jeff Ivester of Mapex usa). Like its small brother the M birch, they sell like hot bread...

You also look at the Gretsch Catalina Maple or even the new Lugwig Accent maple. Yamaha offer now their new affordable 100% maple shell TOUR Custom which was announce last winter.

Anyway, you cant go wrong with the MAPEX PRO M though, for the price it would be my kit of choice...

BTW - have you see the PDP FXR shell pack deal from musician friends ?
They aren't maple but I invite you to get confuse

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, living in OZ, musicians friend doesn't quite work for me, but I'll definately check out Ludwig and Yamaha.

Cheers!
