Snare drum advice please!!

I've got some christmas money together now, and I really want a new snare. I play in a rock/metal band, and want a snare with a punch, and also one that is really responsive to doubles and buzz rolls and such.

my budget is between £150 and £250 I would really like some advice, because I've never bought a snare before, just snare heads.

thanks

If you check my bands myspace below, you can hear my Pearl, brass, 14"x6.6" snare.

I play mostly metal and this beast has got tonnes of cutting power.

Other than that, all I can say is, go to your store, try out everything they've got, find out if you want wood or metal (metal is usually louder), beat the crap out all of 'em and let us know how you go.

Remember, we want photos when you get a winner.

I know from another forum that many metallers love their TAMA 6.5x13 Metalworks.
Very good sounding snare for an affordable price.
