Please Recommend a Fast Bass Pedal

I've been out of the drumming picture for a while, but now am in need of a good fast bass pedal. Could someone please recommend one. I heard good things about the DW 9000s, but wasn't for sure how they rate vs the DW 5000s or other pedals.

Thanks for your time.

The 9000 is about my fave. It is the smoothest pedal out there. The 5000 is also excelent, I believe that Raymond Herrera of Fear factory uses a pair of 5000's. My personal recomendation would be the gibraltar intruder direct-drive. I used to have trouble doing quick double strokes with a single, and the intruder is one of the few pedals that feel right to me. It's also priced well below that of some of the higher-end pedals.

Do you know if I buy the single DW 9000 pedal now, can I "upgrade" it later with the double bass extension?

Consider the pearl line aswell. Some of the lesser priced power shifter pedals feel just the eliminator but just don't offer as much flexablilty.

Like I always say, go to the store and find out for yourself.

The eliminator is very flexible for personal set up as it has 4 different cams, movable plate and a four way beater. I got mine better for speed than stock by modifying the heel plate (removed it) yet many speed drummers use longboards. You should get to a shop and try some out. Pedal speed has as much to do with foot playing technique as the pedal itself. I tried DW and didn't like them, others swear by them, everyone is different.
Good maintenance is a must on any pedal, keep the drive lubed.

i personally think the axis are the best on the market by far.. they are also the choice for pretty much every insane death metal drummer like derek roddy.. and the world record for speed was made using the axis longboards

Being a metal drummer,I'll tell most guys are using Axis longboards.I prefer the Iron Cobra, they have a slightly heavier feel and I like thier "power" cam.Tricks are a pedal people are talking about.I had the Eliminators and did not like them.Very flexible pedal...but who is really gonna be changing thier cam that often? That would f me up...the feel between the 4 cams offered is widely varied.

I personally like the Iron Cobra Power Glides. I've read a lot of stuff on the Axis pedals and they seemed good......Then I read some user reviews and they all said they weren't that great and it was hard to get a good powerful hit out of it. This is just what I have read on some reviews so please don't start coming after me .
