Reference

Ok so I bought a Reference Kit. You probably know the one. Scarlet Fade 10,12,14,16,18,22.
Fortunately I have Signature 20,17,16,14,12,10 and 14 trad hats. So it should sound pretty good. I think my forward planning has helped me out here.
I have ordered the matching snare reference 20 ply 14x6 and a really heavy stand to hold it. IF interested I have a very good long term friend who helps me out....

So any one want an icon rack for a reasonable $$$$

I make my own racks god dam it...

Had to share this with such a cool bunch of drummers.....

The re-cycling people called me a week ago & said I could not donate any more magazines or catalogs that had reference drums in them. There is so much drool on the pages that the wet paper jams up their machine. So can you PLE-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-Z-E let me know what you think of them???? Dang---now there's drool all over my keyboard---Yuk

Nice looking drums. As you have a decent size kit it would be interesting for you to do a review. I guess the concept means there is no spill over between drums and each individual drum is distinctive so a 12" wont ever sound like a 13" when tuning altered ?.
For distinction i use the R.I.M.S mounts and tune so the toms speak their own voice, but i do like them to blend musically. I mainly use 10,12 and 16" size toms, though i have a 13 ( collecting dust), but from out front live, the 12 is all i need, may be different with miked up.

ta, yes your right isolation is the key feature here. I haven't got them in my possession as yet, about 10 days, I am sure I will do a review. The thing about these drums is they are the heaviest drums I have ever felt. Heavy as in weight.
They are certainly not suited for a gigging drummer unless you have heaps of roadies.
Your correct each drum will never sound like another. Not only because of the different blends used, maple, mahogany and birch but because the drums are so well made. Further true tuning IMO is to tune to the shell size. So a 12 should never really sound like a 13. When 10,12,14,16,18 is at your fingertips I guess I need to look out for 8,9,11,13,15,17 and a massive 19.
I was really deciding between a Brady,Gretsch ,Sleishman and Le Seprano. I guess the bottom line is dollar and when a bargain comes along , one must grab it...
Full review photos and anything else will be up soon. I do still have to wait for the snare though, which should arrive around the same time. Fingers crossed.
finally I am going to build a wooden floor cause these babies don't deserve to be on crappy carpet....
cheers
