What Set???

Hi everyone, i am in the market for a new kit and i have narrowed my search down to about four different sets.

Pearl Masters, DW, Pork Pie, or a Tama Starclassic

(i'm pretty sure i want maple shells and the sizes would be 8x10, 9x12, 11or12x14, and a 20x20 kick or a 16or18x22 kick)

If anyone has these kits, has played these kits, or knows about these kits, then any sugestions, comments, preferences, or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks SOOOO much!!

Sincerely, Kelly (i am a guy)

Aye

Hey man, I was just in the same position as you, looking for a new kit. I wasnt really sure what i wanted either but when i got in the store and played some pearl masters the search was over. I think pearl masters is a great choice as long as you got the cash to spend as it can get a little pricy after the shells and all the hardware and stuff (mine came to about $3000). Oh and also I got the birch shells instead of maple but im sure the maples sound just as good. Pearl masters are definently a kit you wont be dissapointed with.

BTW they dont look to shabby either

My pick is the Starclassics, but that's me, any of those kits in the upper price range are going to be good quality, a hard decision. You will probally find a lot of fors for all of them. The accesories, finish, knick knacks could be deciding factors, a lot of hay to fork out, research and choose carefully and remember, it is you that is going to play them, buy to your own requirements. Best of luck Kelly.

thanks

thanks to all who replied. i am going to skips music today and they have just about every set imaginable, so i will definately take all of your advice into consideration.

i just have two questions... i know that birch has good high end and low end, but a lot in the middle end... and that maple is even all the way accros... but what does that mean? do maples resonate more? are they not as loud????

oh and one more question... i have all my size configurations except for the bass drum. i am either thinking about getting a 20x20 (from pork pie) or an (18or16)x22. if anyone can fill me in or give me advice it would be much appreciated.

thanks again!

Maple is just as loud, and in my opinion they do resonate more but like all drums, the skins and tuning will affect it the most.

Here, check out this link http://home.earthlink.net/~prof.sound/id14.html and see how a pro compares the two.

Also check out the manufacturers websites and see what your fav. drummers are playing.
