Snare Tension

Hey Shazaam;
After you do the things that mouse has suggested. Which is excellent advice.
An easy way to adjust you snares for optimum tension goes like this.

Tap very lightly in the very center of the snare head. While doing this, very slowly tighten the snare control knob. If you tap as light as possible, you will hear when the snare sound changes to a choked sound. It is a definite change in sound & is not hard to hear. Try it a few times until you recognize the sound.
This will work for any kind of music-loud or soft. It does however give you a very clean, crisp sound. So if you are trying to cover up poorly executed rolls or other beats, you can back it off a little.
ENJOY PLAYING DRUMS--THE BEST HIGH THERE IS AND IT'S FREE.

Shazaam;
I owe you and all the members of this forum an apology. I was making a very poor and crude attempt at being a smart-ass the other day when I responded in
a very stupid manner to your posting on this thread. I was out of line, rude and inconsiderate. I am sorry. I know that I would chew anyone else out that I saw doing that on this site. I sure as hell don't have the right to pick on anyone.

Once again--MY APOLOGIES.

:P I thought you were serious and just sucked at typing lol though I didn't have a clue what you were talking about some of the time. Now that you said it and re-read it..ummm yea... I won't post anything about it.
To upstroke... I was also told that way before but I usually just go by the way I tune my toms. I tighten/re0tune teh snare until it doesn't buzz a whole lot with my toms, vice versa for teh toms, I tune those so they're about teh pitch I want but just right so tehy don't buzz teh snare. crap, my left hand is always to fast when I type the lol.

I can't find the snare wires/strainers, but they're basically just nylon ones I think that give teh snare sound but no buzz almost what so ever.
