Pearl Export 7 piece

Hey guys im thinking of buying a Pearl Export 7 piece double bass and a tama iron cobra double kick. I play heavy metal with my bro and he plays guitar, he's been playing for about 4 yrs. We are going to be playing stuff like Pantera, Slipknot, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Hell Yeah that kind of stuff.

I was gonna buy it all second hand out of the quokka because i can pick it up for half the price. I was wondering if this is a good plan or is it not a good idea to buy drums second hand? Also is it gonna be the right kit for me to play heavy metal with or should i go for something else.

I've got an export 7 piece with two bass drums. You can hear me playing it at
http://www.esnips.com/doc/ad16bddb-5...a/01-Drum-Test or at my bands myspace below.

They are a good kit and worth their price, but remember, the standard, poplar wood exports are the exact same shell construction as the forum kits. If you can afford it, I'd suggest getting the new export maple wood kits. Maple is the same wood type that Vinnie Paul, Joey Jordison and just about any other drummer you can think of plays. You'll probably be happy with your kit for longer if you go for it.

Let us know what you go with and don't forget, we want photos!!

how much more are they for the maple ones? because i was more going for a second hand kit so i probably wont be able to get a maple one second hand. Well im actually buying my kit im about a year or so because the plans for the jam room are still getting approved. So when they are approved and the room is built i can buy my kit. don't worry ill post heaps of photos of it when i finally get it. God the wait is killing me i want it now!!! I got $1900 saved so far so by the time the room is built ill have heaps to spend. Like almost $3000 so i can get some nice new skins n symbols if it doesn't come with good ones. Well thnx for the reply and the links. You have been a great help. Cya.

wile ur waiting... if you buy cymbals a head of time dont buy new ones, even though you might feel the pressure dont buy the shiny New Z customs and or AAXs, but if the used AAXs and or Zcustoms are as good shape and sound, buy them.

why do u prefer single??
Wat is better for me to get, a 7 piece or a 5?
In the paper theres like 15 5 piece exports but no 7 pieces. So is it better for me to get a 5 or will i have trouble playing most of my heavy metal songs with a 5 piece??
