mid level+ drum set

hi, ive been playing drums for about 3-4 years now... and im playing on a set thats falling apart from the 60's.. ive been looking into sets from tama/ pearl/ dw/ and ludwig. what would you guys suggest is the best for a midlevel+ drummer...

is the tama superstar custom something that id be wanting to look into?

also. ive been looking into double bass drum pedals. iron cobras i hear are to expensive for what you get? is that true? and if so, is axis something id be wanting to look into?

and for symbols im looking into zildjian A's? i like punk/alternative music, and i want to get a drumset that has a sound that reflects that.

Iron Cobra Pedals...OR Paulse pro...One of the longest playing drummers here even uses paules for double bass pedals, me too...Might switch soon to who knows

Drums try PdP sounds great lower cost but same value as DW(im looking at Royal drum co.) for pearl try eXports(my friend plays one and could be endorced by any drum company)

The Gretsch Catalina Line are good mid level kits to look into also. They have some deals where you can get an extra Tom free with some kits. I'm really happy with my Gretsch set, I'ld include them on your list of sets to try.

ok

i do have a pretty large budget...2000 for kit, hardware, and cymbols. kits are like what? almost 1000, cymbals 600?

you guys really think its a good idea to get a kit from a smaller manufacturer? cause i was looking into the Tama Superstar Custom, and im liking those... what are the benefits of that over say the gretsch, pdp, or royal? my drum teacher has a royal and it doesnt feel that great to me...and my local drum stores dont carry gretsch or pdp... what do you guys think... also, ive played pearl export. sounds pretty good, but the color selection sucks, were as tama superstar has cool selections.

The good thing about royals is they are cheep, to spread the name out, unlike some other drums they are spicificly made for the drummer and not mass produced like tama, pdp or pearl. Tamas have a differint kinda wood that makes it sound differint(saw a tama in Will and Grace) then the export(tamas can be cheeply made) Pearl Exports can go for manny styles of music, great for rock, does color relly matter? and pdp DW makes pdp i like the looks of manny and because of drummers makeing them it means they are for the players.

Royals check out their myspace.

thanks

thanks for all of your advice guys... its really helped. but im seriously considering the tama superstar SL custom.
22" x 18" bass drum
12" x 9" and 13" x 10" toms
16" x 16" floor tom
5-1/2" x 14" wood snare drum

am i making the right choice compared to brand sets? ive heared this is a good investment, and i like the feel of it. i havent played ALL of the sets you guys have suggested i have to admit though.
