Re: Yamaha vs. DW

I've played DW a ton before, and I LOVE them! I think they're great sets, value-wise AND quality-wise. I've played Yamaha before also, and I think they're pretty good drums too. Whatever you decide on, they're both great sets, so you'll probably like the one you get. I used to own Yamahas until I bought my DW set, and I prefer DW. Just find somewhere that has Drum Workshop sets and play on one, see how you like it. :]

Hey Matt, I have used Yamaha Maple Customs for over 13 years. They have been all over the country with me....they always sounded great...I recently attempted to order a DW kit and could not believe how long the wait was...and the prices!! DW is not on top by accident. Their drums sound perfect. They look amazing too. I recently did a short tour down the east coast and was not able to bring my kit. I stipulated that the rentals were to be DW. Did 25 shows, all different DW kits and never had one complaint. I decided not to order DW and went with SJC Custom drums. I did alot of research and felt they were the best. I got them in 6 weeks, they look and sound just as good if not better than DW.
If money is an issue, I say Yamaha, best bang for the buck. If you dont mind waiting and/or you can grab a kit in a local store then go with DW. I enjoyed the experience of building my kit the way I wanted it. And the prices were competitive.
Peace, Anthony
