Thinking of the Mapex Birch Standard. pros/cons?

I used to own a 9 piece Tama Superstar double bass kit that was made in 1984. i got rid of it a few years ago and been playing on an electric kit i've had since 1998 I want the same setup as i had before but can't afford it and don't have the space entirely for it since i'm in a smaller house. i found the Mapex Birch M standard 5 piece with the free 10" tom online and was thinking of picking it up for $840 but not sure these sets sound like. I know Bennett studio is in Bellevue but it's a bit far for me to travel to. My previous set was i think Mahogany and it sucked for metal music.
Anyone here own one and like it? oh and i know there was someone here who might have been to Bennett Studios. Do they special order drumstuff at all? I want to special order an extra floor tom for the kit if i get it. either an 18 or 14 floor to match up with the 16. not sure who i can special order thru.
Thanks for any advice guys.

The Mapex set sounds really good. I love the sound I got from my friends. It's a very sturdy set. The only problem was the hardware, even though it's still alright.

I have the M Birch kit and it is awesome!!! 8 10 12 rack toms 14 16 suspended floor toms 22 kick. I have played a lot of drums in my day and this is by far the best for the money. The hardware is great too. I'm a big guy and hit hard and the hardware stands up just fine. They sound great and look beautiful.
