Keep Vintage Rogers OR buy new drums??? Hello. Just dusting off what appear to be mint condition 5 piece Rogers set from late 60's early 70s. Tags say Dayton, Cleveland, and Fullerton. Red Onyx. All original hardware, no extra holes. No damage at all. Dyna sonic "custon built" snare. 14 inch hi hat cymbals, with 20 inch ride and 19 inch sizzle ride. All Avedius Zildjian. Original high hat and bass drum pedal.
I'm conflicted as to whether to sell these and use the money to buy a new moderately priced set such as DW Pacific or Gretsch Catalina (as examples). Of course, the money I'd get would also cover hardware, and nice cymbals.
I'm only playing these in my home as a hobby, no gigs, no lugging them all over town.
I'm sure most will say, "Keep the Rogers you idiot," but just curious. I've just always liked the look of wood looking drums (color). I have many photos of these Rogers drums. I can email to anyone if interested in MAYBE buying them. I understand they are worth some decent money, as they are in fantastic condition.
What moderately priced sets (brands/lines) do you think would fit my purpose, just playing at home?
Thanks, Chuck |
