Conaway drums

Ok, this might seem like spam but its not! Seriously, my next kit is probably gonna be from these guys. The kits are almost fully customizeable, and if they dont have a finish, they can get it. I sent in a quote for an acrylic kit (the same color as the one in my avatar), in a 6 piece set-up and its only gonna cost 1,799$! Thats pretty reasonable considering the prices of those Ludwig bohnam reissues. So check em out! The service is exceptional, the guy wrote me back the very next day with my quote.

Aren't acrylic drums the kind that were popular in the 80s? Very versatile stuff.

Never really heard of the drums but their website seems nice. Any reason why you would pick these over the big names like Pearl and Ludwig? Support would probaly better if they have a smaller userbase.

Acrylic drums were popular in the 70's 80's, they are alot louder than normal drums, and they look amazing. Yeah, the support is excellent, and Ive heard so many people say wonderful things about them. In fact, a member on the old forum had a conaway kit that was something like 14 pieces!

I've heard very good things about Conaway, was thinking of going to them for a snare a while back but money was tight, then I got impatient and bought a new Mapex locally. (Lovely snare!).

I wonder who stocks Conaway in the UK, I'd love to play some.

I dont think they have that big an operation going on. Ive heard its just a two person team, but that couldve changed. That would explain the excellent customer service. Its based in texas. They could have some stuff in the UK, but there wouldnt be alot.

Sounds very interesting. The only reason why I wouldn't go with "import" drums or drums made by small companies is because of the support and because of spare parts. Drum kits made by Pearl, Mapex, Tama, etc are always going to be readily available so getting some parts you might need isn't going to be much of a problem. Also, getting support or replacements will probaly be easier from big companies, no?

But who knows, maybe if I actually heard these Conaway Drums, I'd fall in love and throw all that out the window.. haha
