Smile New set - Budget 12-1600, help me pick my set, please!

Hi everyone!
First post on this site

In a few weeks i'm gonna buy a new drumkit ;D
The market is big and im small ><
So what am i going to buy?

The budget is about 1200-1600.
I've been looking at both Tamas Superstar and the Hyperdriver - laid down that hyper is nothing for me. The org. Superstars are still in concideration.

Also been looking at Pearl. Was alot in to the exports, but then found out that they are not made anymore
Then went over to the Visions. In that series im leaning on the Brich ones.
But i have no idea what they sound like, and no "local store" has em :s
So would someone describe the difference between the VBX, VMX and VSX?
Are these avaible in Europe? :?

Please give any thoughts you can possibly have about any drumkit in this priseclass. And post links and stuff - all highly apreciated!

Re: New set - hopefully large diskus about grand (+/-) sets!

Alright, I just got my new set about a month ago. PDP LX series 5 piece with a double kick, no brass. Its amazing. 1100 bucks. If your looking for cymbals also, you can throw em in on your budget.

I would go with PDP, because theyve got the amazing quality and sound. Try Evans heads, theyre really good. And then Me personally, I go with Zildjians. Best sound around.

PDP - PDP | Pacific Drums and Percussion
Zildjian - Zildjian.com - en-US
Evans - Evans

Hope you fin what your looking for!

And remember, Im just giving suggestions. It all depends on your style and individual needs as a drummer, so "follow your heart" =)

Re: New set - hopefully large diskus about grand (+/-) sets!

I prefer Yamaha (I have stage customs) with Paiste, and Evans G2 on top, stock single ply on the reso, only because I have not had the coin or time to change 'em.......

Not big on Pearls, or PDP, but I have some PDP harware, and it holds it's own. Can't be honest enough about the drums though, never played them. How about Sonor? Should be easy to get in europe, and alot of great Britts play them.

I agree that if you can get pdp, they are the shizz for intermediate kits.

Vision series is better than pearl export poplar, but if you can I'd go export maple. This site Drum Tuning Bible can help with choosing wood types.
