Cool Wood or Steel?

Hey guys whats up, I'm in the market for a new snare and I'm in the blue right now. I'm debating wether to get a wood or steel snare. I had the Tama metalworks steel snare 6x14 in mind or the Pork Pie 5x14 wood snare. Im trying to get a snappy ringy sound. If any body is familiar with any of these snares I would appretiate your opinion. Thanks guys.......

Re: Wood or Steel?

pork pie makes some sexy snares fer' sure. If you want ringy I'd say metal...if you want pop, I'd say wood. I personally like the sound of wood over metal. It has a sexier ring when it comes to rimshots...a deeper one I guess that just..lol, iono how to explain but I like its sound.
But like with most drum stuff, just go to local shops and hit stuff it's the only way you'll be able to make the right purchase.
