Best custom drums for rock and metal?

What company makes the best custom drums for rock and metal. Not like death metal. I like playing prog rock style and classic metal. I know dw makes great drums.

Re: Best custom drums for rock and metal?

Not one person here can answer that question but you. I'd suggest reading the drum tuning bible Drum Tuning Bible

Once you read through this information you will have a greater understanding of how a drum looks and can match that with what you want to buy.

The real question should be: "What type of wood, what width, what depth...."
Do you see my point.
I prefer smaller toms... my largest is 15" however the next guy might have an 18" as the largest tom.

Re: Best custom drums for rock and metal?

If you like lots of deep thud, you'll want deep shells. If you like speed, you'll like them more shallow. I'd personally recomend maple wood for the full breadth of volume, but others do prefer the more focussed birch.

I'd strongly recomend checking out the new pdp platinum series. Gives you lots of options for a lot less moolah, with the ability to upgrade your harware for big hitters.
