Tama Vs. Pearl

I want to buy a drum set and I have about $1,500 to spend on the drums, hardware and cymbals.

I was thinking of buying either a Tama Superstar or a Pearl Forum set. Which one do you guys recommend?

Also, for the cymbals, I think I'm going to go with a Sabian AA, AAX or Xs20 4 pieces set. If I couldn't find a good bargain on those, would a B8 or a B8 Pro set do the job or would it sound bad / get worn out too fast?

Any tips would be much appreciated

Re: Tama Vs. Pearl

I've played on Tamas and Pearls and the answer is it really depends on what you play. If you're a rocker, go with Tama (famous heavy rock/metal drummers like Lars Ulrich from Metallica and Mike Portnoy from DT use Tamas). If you want something well rounded and versatile for all styles, Pearl is the way to go. They're famous for versatility, and legends like Dennis Chambers endorse Pearl. As for your cymbals, make it a priority to stay away from the b8 lines. Like ZBT, ZXT, and ZHT from Zildjian, they work...but that's about it. I like the AAX line from Sabian; they're really modern and bright, but just that's my preference. The AA line is a more traditional cymbal.
