Re: Acrylic drums!!!!! I used to have a Lugwig blue Vistalite kit back in the early 80s. It was my first drumset and I bought it from a lady at a garage sale. I think I paid $250 for 9x13, 10x14, 16x16 and a 14x24 kick. I already had some import wooden snare I was using. I used them for awhile as concert toms, as the bottom hoops, lugs and heads had been removed. Yes, they projected well. Maybe too well. I had a bit of pad and tape on each one and a pillow in the kick. I later tried the Evans blue hydraulics on them, while still using single heads. Once I added bottom heads (clear Ambassadors) to them, I ended up going with that one Evans head that was basically like the hydraulics, but had no oil between the plies. Not sure they make that one anymore. Having the blue heads REALLY made them look sharp.
I saw that Crush is making an acrylic line, as well as fiberglass and carbon-fiber lines. |
