Question Ludwig Stainless Steel Concert Toms

Does anyone either own a set of 6" and 8" Ludwig Stainless Steel Concert Toms or know for SURE if those had the typical Blue & Olive badges on them from Ludwig?

I am putting together a Ludwig Stainless Steel Octa-Plus Outfit from a Vintage Power Factory Outfit plus a second 14" x 24" bass drum and have been searching for the 6" & 8" Concert Toms to complete the kit. My delema is that I missed on an eBay auction for these two, and one of my questions to the seller was that I didn't see the badges. He simply replies there are no badges on them. Now I have located another pair, but again... No badges. I have two other Octa-Plus kits - Amber Vistalite and Maple w/ Black Cortex wrap - and they have badges on the 6" & 8" Concert Toms. So why wouldn't the Stainless Steel ones have them, too?

Anybody got any info...??

Wow that is an interesting problem. Here is what I would do to be absolutely sure you are getting what you need:

Email Ludwig directly. Usually there is at least one person at each of the manufacturers that knows the equipment and it's history (I know this for sure at Tama, Yamaha and Sonor) and ask them to be sure. I personally don't know of any Ludwig drum that ever came without the keystone or blue and olive badging but I suppose it is possible.

Here is the Ludwig link:

Re: Ludwig Stainless Steel Concert Toms

Just as you said, I have never seen a genuine Ludwig drum that didn't come with a badge on it - especially from the 1970s and newer when they started adding serial numbers. Stainless Steel was only an option for a couple of years in the late '70s, so they would have had a Blue + Olive badge like the rest of the stainless drums I own so ?? Emailing Ludwig can be like sending them a message via carrier pigeon as their customer service isn't known for it's promptness! I tried calling Todd Trent, who used to be their Artists Relations Manager, to see if he knew but he wasn't in so I was hoping I might find someone here that knew since (as every good drummer knows) "Timing Is Everything!"

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but we have lots of members with a wealth of information, maybe we will hear from someone better educated about Ludwig. I would venture to say if it isn't badged it isn't Ludwig.

I would send em an email every hour until they respond with the answer or a phone number of someone that does have the answer.

Yes, the the ludwig stainless steel set has the olive & blue logo on the toms. I have an original kit handed down to me by my father. I've played this kit for years! Powerful set!

Re: Ludwig Stainless Steel Concert Toms

Does anyone have the mounting posts for these? I have a ten piece Ludwig Concert Tom kit in White Cortex and it's missing all three mounting posts, plus the stand for the 15" and 16" toms. Help!
Thanks,
Barry
