the most you've spent

i just priced the custom set i would buy if i had the money. i figured it would cost about $6725, its from truth drums. i know ill probably never buy anything that expensive, even though id love to.

so whats the most you have ever spent on a set?
and what was that set like?

I got a very good price on my set, but its worth around $20,000 Australian
and is a one-of-a-kind Sonor Designer in my own custom colour.

I see their drums for sale locally on the Craigslist for Denver. They are seriously over-priced in my opinion. They are nice looking drums, but for the money I would "settle" for a Sonor, DW or a different custom manufacturer. There is a local drum maker in Boulder called Tribes, and their drums are very nice--I have met the owner and he is very down to earth... I'd rather support his business with my money than some guy in the mountains who charges 3X what everyone else does for a comparable product...

Their drums are made of different woods look and you'll see, of course he's selling their appearance you don't think he's going to make them look like crap do you?why don't you look at the different wood he offers and then match them up to someone else?

The bottom line is that something (in this case drums) is only worth what the market will bear. I say if he can get 3x the money for them, more power to him. I agree, for that kind of money, unless I was independantly wealthy, I would settle for Sonor or DW.

well slingerland i checked out that site. and they definitely have some nice sets. i think just about all the custom drum manufacturers are about the same in their price, though. there are obviously some exceptions but thats my conclusion i think.
