Re: Craigslist - Shoppin' for a Set

Well the TKO is bottom of the line beginner equipment, so stay away from that. The Yamaha Rydeen is also an entry level drum set, but it is better quality by far than the TKO.

The Tama looks like a Superstar series to me, and the Pearl is an Export series. Both of these kits are decent starter kits. The Tama is basswood and the Pearl is phillipene mahogany, so they will have similar tonal qualities. If this were my purchase, of those four I would limit my choices to the Tama or the Pearl.

Some of the others here will chime in here also, so don't base your decision soley on what I say, wait to see what others say too. (I say this because I have no hands on experience with either of these kits)

TOSOMEONE INSANE I may have just what your looking for, This is a Sonor Set which is an excellent set of drums, the drums are Birch, not Basswood and I think their in your price range.
Go to e-bay and type in Sonor Force 2007 6 piece Fusion Shell drum set AF look at the equipment you get with this. You can see everything right on the e-bay ad.Let me know what you think. BTW I'M SLINGERLAND

Funny how nowadays the Tama Superstar is inferred to as a 'starter' set. When I bought my first pro set back in 1984, it was a Tama Superstar, and it was considered top-of-the-line back then!

If youre not super picky about having an expensive high end kit and yould like A sweet little brand new all maple kit, you should check out the Sonor Force 3007 kits. They look, sound and play awsome. They also have a nice selection of flawless lacquer finishes to choose from. The 400 series hardware are also super nice.

I ordered mine from "Dales Drum Shop" in Harrisberg PA and had it shipped all the way to Oakland CA. It came in perfect condition inside of virgin factory boxes in only 5 business days. Even with the shipping cost, nobody can touch Dales prices!.

Total cost to me including shipping cost (Remember, you dont pay any sales tax),

] 6 piece shell pack- $650.00

] 5 piece hardware pack- $250.00

] Shipping cost- $110.00

Total $1110.00

Check out Ebay, Sonor Force 3007, Dales Drum Shop
