ddrum defiant 7 piece help

hey im fixing to buy a ddrum defiant 7 piece off of musicians friend who by the way is a great site, and its made out of basswood. I tested a basswood set at guitar center and it sounds just like a maple set. But i would like to hear from someone who has experience with this set please, what do u think of it?

Hey!
I made a thread with the same question when I was interested with that set.
Maybe it will answer your question.
Heres the link:DDrum defiant 7-piece
How long have you been drumming?
But personally, I would go With something from Gretsch, but if you think it sounds good to you, get it. It's your kit. Good Luck!

Re: ddrum defiant 7 piece help

ive been drummin for about 4 years and i know this isnt as good as a birch kit or anything but im on a budget and with good heads i think that basswood wont sound that much different than maple but im just guessin from other sets that i have tried, im lookin for a 100% description on this set from people who own this kit preferably or if you have played this kit before

Re: ddrum defiant 7 piece help

If you are looking for maple, consider the cheaper alternatives. I'm personally looking at the Sonor 3007 and pearl vmx for maple.

I also find that poplar is more like Maple than Basswood.

Hey if you play it and love it, then go for it. Personally I find basswood to be too dull sounding, not enough mid and high tones.
