Picking my second drum set

I've had an e-kit for about half of a year now, and I would like to get a decent acoustic set for this Christmas. The price range I am thinking is $400 to $700. I can probably sell my e-kit for about $200 since it cost $400. It should also be a 5-piece and have at least a ride and a hi-hat.

I'm looking at these kits:
Gretsch Blackhawk Standard 5-Piece Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals and more Acoustic Drum Sets at GuitarCenter.com.

My preference would be the Gretsch Blackhawk Standard 5-Piece Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals and more Acoustic Drum Sets at GuitarCenter.com.

Then again that's me.

Re: Picking my second drum set

Try to avoid the Pulse kit.
As the hardware is weak and the cymbals are terrible. To thick,
and shimmery.

As for the Gretsch Blackhawk, do you want the Standard outfit or the fusion?
I also beleive it only comes in 1 color at GuitarCenter.com as well as Muciciansfriend.com.
Thats Metallic Blue.

The Pearl Travler, Do you want full tom sizes?

The D2 is about second.
Nice hardware. It also is pretty well built.

As a tip, go on youtube.com and search the kits of your interest. Listen to reveiws
and listen to how the kit sounds.
But, I would have to go with the Gretsch blackhawk. It's amzing for a starter kit.
Good Luck, and happy Drumming!

Re: Picking my second drum set

Just to upset the applecart - why not forget them all and spend the cash on a good condition second-hand kit. You will pick up something a little more up-market, and get a lot more bang for your buck.
Just a thought!!

Re: Picking my second drum set

As of now I have chosen the Gretch standard 5 piece for $650. I may go with a secondhand kit if I see one.
BTW thanks for the pointers.

Why not try Yamaha 5 piece kit at Americanmusicalsuppyly.com it comes with a rack at no charge
and is priced good. It's the tour custom one. Good Luck SLINGERLAND

I personally think pearls have the best sound so i recommend that, But with the cymbals definitely zildjian or paiste or sabian.
