Arrow PDP Maple X7 vs. ddrum Dominion AMX

With the PDP I get drums that are basically a low balled DW kit.
With the ddrum I get a brand I'm not familiar with but I feel partial to for some reason. (I will return if i get bad bearing edges)
Both are maple, with the ddrum having an exterior ply of ash.
They both have good hardware, and money is not an issue.
I will add on toms so that they both are 7 pieces, the only difference in sizes is that the ddrum has a 12x8, 14x7, and 22x20, where the PDP has 12x9, 14x5, and 22x18.
The ddrum has a virgin bass drum, the PDP has bass drum mount.

Any feedback whatsoever would be appreciated.
I'm new to this forum, but so far it's been nice here.

No replies?
Come on. you can even say something just about ddrum/PDP in general.
Does anyone have this kit, or maybe the duo fade?

Jimmy I think you have to listen to them and decide for yourself. I've played on PDP sets before and they were okay I never played on Ddrum. This a decision you have to make by listening to them, if you can get someone to play both sets of drums tell them not to use the cymbals and stand a distance away to begin with and then come in closer you'll know which you like the best. Let me know what you decided on.

GOOD LUCK SLINGERLAND

I was really just looking for opinons on size differernces, hardware, and the quality of the brands.
I've played the drums, I just like to hear other's opions.
Thanks for the cymbal idea though, Slingerland.

PDP is the way I would steer you without a doubt. Keep in mind I am slanted towards DW, but I know in the long run the PDP will hold up better from both finish and hardware standpoint.

I am not sure what exactly I don't care for about the ddrum kits, but everyone I have sat behind just had a cheap feel and look to it in my eyes.

Out of curiosity, which direction are you leaning?

Jimmy I would go for the PDP but then again LISTEN your going to have to live with them.
as far as hardware I would say PDP has better and the finish goes to PDP as well.

gazzo I'm not a fan of those kits either but those are the ones he's interested in. I myself would be looking into Gretsch or Sonor. I'm interested in a Sonor set or DW for myself. I like Gretsch the American sets, the bearing edges are at 30 degrees and that gives the set a great sound. But that's not what he wants. He can get a Sonor Force 2007 Birch or Force 3007 Maple for less than he's going to pay for either one of these. In this price range my choice is SONOR
Do you agree? SLINGERLAND

Re: PDP Maple X7 vs. ddrum Dominion AMX

I'm not a big fan of Sonor, just because of the look of them.
I've played a few sonors, and I don't really like the sizing they have either.
I would like a gretsch kit, but for more of a second kit type thing, i love their snares.
I don't like the gretsch tom sound, though.

I want to lean towards the PDP, but it really just looks cheesy in those sparkle finishes, and the stock snare is bad.
I also don't like that they put a hole in the bass drum for the mounts.
The tom sound is nice though.
the ddrum is better looking, and I like the ash/maple shells, I'm just worried that it will sound and look cheap, because I have never played this model ddrum, only their cheaper kits.
I really am stuck between the two.
