Hey there!

Im planning on purchasing a drumset - i used to play drums when i was younger but had to sell the drumset i had ( it was a piece of junk anyways)

Now im really motivated to start again - having a decent job , im able to purchase a decent drum set -

I need you're help guiding me thru my purchase - i have in the past made purchases and then joined forums to realized that i should have asked information before- so thats what im doing!!

im defenatly thinking of getting jazz lessons - but i will be playing mostly Metal/Rock

All the tips you guys have learned with the years of purchasing equipement will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Bruno

We can help you with your purchase but we will need to know a few things first. What is your total budget (drums, cymbals and hardware included) and how many pieces in the kit are you interested in?

Hey there! thanks for the reply -

id say i have arround 1400$ to start -

How many pieces ... not sure yet heh .. defenatly will need a double bass drum pedal!

I have been researching a bit .. and i found this ...

Drum Sonor Serie Force 2003 with sabian cymbals .. B8 series ... there is 3 cymbals and 1 hi-hat ... its a used drum set and it's only 500$$$ .. under my budget by alot so i could perhaps get additional pieces!

let me know what you think of that deal!

Re: New Drummer Needs Advice

The Sonor Force 2003 is a well built, great sounding kit. You will not outgrow this set until you are near a professional skill level (and even then these will preform well). The Sabian B8's are one of their bargain priced lines, but you can't expect top of the line cymbals AND a Sonor kit for $500. This is a great deal for a kit of this quality and cymbals also, I would have to say go for it if the set is in good shape.

Re: New Drummer Needs Advice

Any signs of a tough life like scratches or dings in the finish ply, bent or severely scratched rims, missing lugs, loose lugs and just about anything that isn't how it would be from the showroom floor.

Now with that said keep in mind it is used so it might have some minor blemishes, possibly where the bass drum touches the floor and things of that nature. Anything that won't effect the life or sound of the drums is ok within reason. For that price you can expect the heads to be in bad shape and in need of replacement.

On the otherhand this kit might be in mint condition, you just never know.

the sabian AAX and HHX lines are both great. i like thier sound, and you probably will, too, but listen before you buy. the B8 line is the cheapest sabian line, but some still like them.
