Adivce??

Hello there, I am new to this web site. I was hoping to get some advice about a new drum set. I don't know too much about drums; I am a beginner and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on whether or not to buy a "Groove Percussion PVT12" drum set. I am looking at a 5-piece drum set with hardware and cymbals. I found it on Sam Ash for $250. But I can't find it anywhere else, so I was wondering if anyone would know if it was worth the cost and if it sounded okay, or what would be better. I was also looking at ddrums. I am a beginner, so Im not looking for anything too expensive right now, maybe a set that is decent that I can upgrade over time. I would just like something that's not complete crap.

I have never even heard of that brand before so my advice would be stay away from it. Keep in mind while shopping for a new set (even an entry level set) that you get what you pay for.

What is the most you are willing to spend?

I wouldn't like to spend over 400, but my top dollar would probably be 500.
I was also looking at a ddrum D2 5-piece set. Are those decent?

Thanks

The Ddrum D2 looks to be a good buy for a set ready to play out of the box.

Here are some others to consider:

Sound Percussion

Ludwig

You might do better as far as quality of the drums, hardware and cymbals if you shopped for used equipment. You might want to take a look at craigslist.org to see what is for sale in your area.

If your looking for drumsets in the $500.00 range or less and you don't know much about drums or you need cymbals with the drums go to Musicians Friend they have sets with cymbals and hardware included for $500.00 and less. Guitar Center owns Musicians friend if you didn't know that.

I am not sure where you are located but with that budget you can never go wrong with a locally owned used kit. Check Craigs list, Newspapers, and other local online resources. Go view the kit and I bet you can find something with more hardware and cymbals in that price range unless you just have to have new. A lot of people sale drum sets due to losing there job, upgrading to an expensive kit, or they just don't have time nor patience to be a good drummer. I would stay away from that brand you mentioned earlier since you are willing to invest at least 400.00 bucks. You could get a higher used quality kit that actually has been taken good care of from the right person. Good Luck

To prove my point here is a set that is near me that i could get in that range and i am sure you could find just as good or even better. That particular drum set probably could be bought for 300.00 cash if negotiated. I would look though for a good kit. This is not the best set by any means but with your budget you could find a Ludwig, Tama, PDP, Pearl and so on in that range. I don't have time to research but i am sure you will before you buy I highly suggest that. The Holidays are also coming up and people tend to sale more gear during this time of the year to use the money for other purposes. There is a drum kit out there collecting dust that probably cost about 1000 bucks new but the person will sale it for 300.00 just to get some quick cash. Good Luck and try before you buy. Birch is a great wood that you may be able to find in that range used depending on what sound you really want. The biggest thing is to get something you wont regret.

*OVERSIZED* Drum Set + more
