Exclamation Who wants a cheap easy way to reduce resoncance?

Yup, here it is. If you want to cut down on pesky resonance, here it is. All I did was take off the resonance heads(the heads on the bottom of the drum and the front of the bass drum), and it dramatically reduced it. If anyone has any thoughts on this idea(is it a good or bad idea?), just say something! If anyone has another low cost, DIY way to reduce resonance on the drums, feel free to speak up!
Thanks!
The Drumn00b

Don't you get rattles from the lugs? I will say its not so great for the shells. They can go out of round if your not careful. I think evans makes mesh heads that give you the sound like there isn't any resonant head but the keep the shells round. I thinks its only for the kick though.

Re: Who wants a cheap easy way to reduce resoncance?

I just took the whole thing off. The bottom of my shell is completely bare(that's why I asked, I dunno if that's bad), because it was rattling. And it just reduces resonance, not completely get rid of it. It's just if you want a shorter note, OK?

if that's what you're looking for just use moongels man. buy 4 or 5 packs, you're going to need quite a few on floor toms for that 'short' note. my floor tom has 6 and it sounds so crisp.

I just bought new heads, and this is to create a different sound. And all I do to my floor tom is put a blanket on it. It sounds cool(not good, just cool)
