Re: what should i get...

We all get to that point Maximus.

Butter, remember I was in your position?

I really like the hyperdrive, as it looks nice, you get the value of a 6 piece, a virgin bass,

also, it's similar to the way my set is, birch/basswood basswood being a kind of substitute
for African Mohagony. Only the hyper drive has 7plys on the FT's and bass and mine has 8. It also comes in a nice variety of color. I also heard those tom sizes do something to the sound or bounce back, but I'm not really sure.

Good Luck man and happy drumming!

haha hey maximus, ive been working for $8 an hour since august to save for this! and itll still probably be a while have you ordered a kit yet? btw, i would go for the beamer

IE, it does have alot of color options, but i cant find it in the one i want!!!
haha, but ill find it and it will be mine... oh yes, it will be mine.
the tom sizes feel funny. i dunno how to explain it, but they are different.

Like you said here, the Superstar is third on the list here in quality. The Starclassic is the top of the line Tama and would be a very nice drumset to own as would the top of the line PDP.

In my mind you have only two sets here to consider, and it comes down to the sound of each. Because they are different woods they will have different sound to them so the only way you can decide is to play each kit side by side and pick the one that sounds the best to you.

Re: what should i get...

First is first: I have owned a 5, a 7 and now I own a 4 piece, I am rapidly improving (makes you think about using more toms on your normal playing).
Im not sure what kind of music you like to play, but underground Metal and hardcore drummers in my area have been down sizing from 5-6 pieces to four pieces!

Here is a list of drummers that I recognized the band of who use tama Starclassic:
The Police (they started out punk!)
John Fogerty (Saw in concert)
Rise Against
Anthrax
Abacabb (saw in concert)
Shadows Fall
Hatebreed
All that remains
Mastodon
Number 12 looks like you
Whitechapel (saw them in concert)
Slayer
Rollins Band
Cannibal Corps
Celtic Frost
5 fingered Death Punch
Metallica
Soilwork
Fiction plane (saw them and Police in concert!)
Bleeding through
Emmure (old drummer played tama, saw him in concert)
Job For A cowboy

The list goes on... Think about it!

PDP:
Casualties (saw them in concert along with Hatebreed, He is good! One of the four I didn't meet that I saw play)

Re: what should i get...

i guess ill have to find a music store that has both of them that will be hard where i live.

this is going to be a harder decision than i thought. i dont think having fewer drums concerns me, as i can always remove some, but i dont know if i want to gig with something as amazing as the 2 better kits.
with the superstar, i wouldnt have to worry AS MUCH about the care of my drums, although ill still be a nazi about it however i will get that much better sound from the others... i dont need a pro kit, but it would be really nice to have one. theres so many pros and cons
