Re: what should i get...

well i havent made the purchase yet, as my dad made me put away ANOTHER half of what i had saved in the bank so now i have to save for a few more months before i have enough.

anyway, i decided to get the Tama Superstar, partially because i want new drums sooner (i know it would be worth it to save, but o well) and partially because i want that extra tom. now i just need to find a place that sells it in the finish i want...

Re: what should i get...

ARGH!!!

they discontinued the tama superstar i wanted.
i decided i dont want to spend more than $1500, so the pdp is out as well as the B/B, since i would have to get a snare drum.

im looking at the mapex pro m... i cant find it in the finish i want, though. this is the most frustrating thing ever! i cant wait until i buy something and i dont have to deal with looking and worrying about what i should aim for

Sorry you're in agony, Butter. Discontinued doesn't mean completely sold out, necessarily, does it? Are you sure you couldn't find the Superstar somewhere? The Pro M is discontinued, but there are still some around.

Let me know if I can help looking.

Hey Butter I think you have to decide how important the looks of the drums are? I'm sure you won't buy a set that looks horrible but sometimes when you can't get exactly what you want you have to sacrifice something, and the way your going it looks like the color of the drums. Be more interested in Sound and Quality that's more important than color.

I'd go with anything maple. Custom preferably.

Bubinga drums are heavy.

Always try before you buy.

dang dood...
All the superstars are discontinued?
Are there any other colors you like?
It isn't the end of the world (thats 2012.) But there are other superstars, right?

Yes, according to the Mayan calendar, the world ends in 2012 -- can't remember the exact date.

Buy your drums now, boys.

Butter,
Music 123 says they have the TAMA 6-piece in stock in cherry burst. Check it out.

Hope this helps.

Re: what should i get...

ah, i see. i can still find superstars, but it will be harder
there are still superstar SKs in production, but the SLs are done. the difference is a wrap finish as opposed to lacquer, the SL edition.

Hey Slingerland! how are you doing?
i know color/appearance is not the most important part of my decision, and i will be sure to try before i buy, but i want to be completely sure i will be satisfied with whatever i get. if i get something that sounds great, but is in a color i had to choose for lack of options, i will always feel a little disappointed about it. call me picky, but appearance is a big part of my decision

i would go for the mapex meridian, but it isnt offered with a virgin bass except by special order also i dont like the sizes in the special order package.
i like the superstar in the blue fade and ALOT in titanium fade. i have never found it in titanium, but i have in the blue fade, which was what i was planning to get. now i cant find it in either.
i like the pro m in boston pewter fade, which is similar to the superstar titanium fade, but i cant find it in that color, probably since its discontinued. thanks for informing me about that, xtreme.
i guess musicians friend ran out of superstars and took them off their site, unlike the pro ms.

Butter,

Wore out some virtual shoe leather looking for the superstar in titanium fade and blue fade -- no dice.

Which version of the Pro M are you interested in? Boston pewter, I know.
