Toms in a new drum set purchase

I do not have a specific genre that I am attached to at this time, I know that I like nu-metal, as well as indie, so my range is somewhere in that realm. my question is what is more important on a personal preference bases when increasing my set size from a five piece set...a third small tom, a second floor tom, or both?

Both, of course. But if you need to choose between one or the other, what do you feel is lacking more? A higher tone or a lower tone? As you play, do you wish you had another higher tone to hit, or another lower tone? Or neither?

You make an interesting point...I will have to make a note of that Did you buy a small tom or floor tom first with your first upgrade? Or did you buy both

Re: Toms in a new drum set purchase

When I had a 4-piece Slingerland, I stuck with it -- only cymbal upgrades. When I had a 5-piece Yamaha rock set, I stuck with it. No drum upgrades.

Now with my 5-pad electronic set, I foresee no drumpad upgrades.

With me, it's like watchin' wood dry.
