Re: Need advice on Dixon drum co.

From the Dixon website:
"Demon drums features 7-ply Birch/Mahogany shells (7.2 mm shells) with 45-degree bearing edges, 1.6 mm power hoops and Evans G1 coated batters with a single-ply clear resonant heads."
I didn't play the Demon, so I really can't add anything more.

Re: Need advice on Dixon drum co.

the mahogany is really the just a filler wood the shells are birch/mahogany...some speculate that the shells take on the overall sound of the inner shell...imo cheap mahogany still sounds better than basswood and poplar!!! for the price on the dixon demon set i think that it would really be a good buy!!!

False,
The Demon series uses a mid-grade Mahogany between the Birch plies. This is the same type you find in other mid-level kits that use Mahogany. The wood isn't Luan or "Asian Firewood", as some people say, but it is not African or Honduras Mahogany. If we were to use High-end Mahogany like African, then this series would be in a much higher price point.

It is pretty old but I love it, and wouldnt part with it every, (might give it to my daughter).

anyways Its about 10+ years old as aparently the cymbals came with it and the 200 series paiste stuff was ended in the mid 90's..

thanks.
