Re: Need some on a new kit

Try looking at maybe some Paiste Rudes or maybe some Sabian HHXs. Both have a darker sound that might suit your music style.

The other way to figure out where to start looking is to find out what cymbals the drummers you like use and start hitting those.

No, I actually have a kit that works to my needs. I'm choosing the Superstar.
Also, those cymbals are ok, but they are a bit expensive.
Most of my favorite drummers either use Sabian AAX or the Meinl Series (don't know which ones)
After calculating my budget, i have about $1015, (some of it went into a new Roc-n-Soc throne, and some into an Iron Cobra Double Pedal).
Any Ideas along those 2 cymbal companies?

The Sabian AAXs are great cymbals (I use a mix of AAs ad AAXs for my crashes) and you can find them on sale at places like Guitar Center for reasonable prices. Meinl are excellent cymbals also and tend to be less money than their Sabian and Zildjian equivilents.

Great choice on thrones, a cheap throne can kill you.

Bandana,

Congrats on choosing the Superstar, Roc-n-Soc, and Iron Cobra! Sounds like you're well on you way to choosing cymbals. You'll be layin' down beats in the Alleghenies in no time!

Take care, and holler again if you need anything. Stay in the groove, man.
