looking for good birch drums

I am looking to buy new drums, and love the sound of birch and was looking at the Tama superstar hyper-drives in the pearl white. My price point is $1500, and want to know what you guys think.
thanks

The Tama Superstar is an excellent choice in Birch drums. If you are not totally sure, you might also try out a Yamaha Stage Custom and a Mapex Meridian Birch.

I own a Yamaha birch kit and it sounds great. They make a series higher for a bit more. IS your price 1500 total, or just for the shells?

The TAMA birch/bubingas are excellent. The bubinga adds a lower range to the birch. They cost more than the Superstar, though.

Re: looking for good birch drums

Hyperdrive kits have mounted toms that are smaller than standard size. The mounted toms are 6.5 x 10 and 7 x 12 as opposed to standard sized toms: 8 x 10 and 9 x 12.

The hyperdrive kits have standard size bass drum and floor toms, though, so they are actually a mix of standard sized drums and smaller modern-size mounted toms.
