Re: ?? help??

If I were you I would go to a local music shop and try out different sets to see what you like the sound of best, then look around on line.
Be sure to ask about sets that meet your requirements at the shop too.
They're the experts(:

Hey Triscuits,

xxvenom13xx has given you some great advice. Go try out all the sets you can and then pick. Learn everything you can about the sets in the price range you have chosen..how good is the hardware, what kind of heads do they come with, are the toms mounted the way you want them to be, how are the toms suspended, what kind of hoops (rims) do they come with, how many lugs are on the kick drum (the optimum is 10), etc. My advice is to buy the best quality set you can afford. You won't regret doing your research before you buy.

Hey Tristan!

Just thought you might like to know that in the June 2010 edition of the Muscians Friend Catalog, the Gretsch Blackhawk 5-Piece Standard Drum Set which includes a 22 x 18 kick, 12 x 9 tom, 13 x 10 tom 14 x 14 floor tom, 14 x 6.5 steel snare, kick pedal, snare stand, hi-hat stand, 2 straight boom stands in liquid black finish for $598...this is a basswood/poplar constructed kit (MSRP $920). Looks like a pretty sweet set and a good deal. Might want to check it out on the Muscians Friend website, then go find a dealer and try it out! Good luck man!

It sounds good to me. Check out reviews on the drumset from Musicians friend or just google it. Then your getting Sabian Cymbals with. Thats always good.

Also "Father's Day Sales" are just around the corner.

Hey, what the heck, they don't have to know it's for you.

You just may be lucky and some sales person will get you the real deal.

You won't know till you try before you buy. You've gotten some really great advise so far.
