Scuff Marks on drum heads

Anyone know how to get the nylon scuff marks off drum heads? Once in a great while my tom heads get scuffed and marked up a bit by my nylon sticks. Anyone know how to get them off? I tried water, and groove juice and got rid of some of it but I didnt want to keep the groove juice on too long so it doesnt deform my heads. Ideas.

Re: Scuff Marks on drum heads

Well the marks are a mix of scuffs and scratches, the scufs come off, as you said, but the scratches stay there. They don't really matter as long as the heads aren't dimpling.
You could try scratch remover for cars but I highly doubt it will work, although it does for CD's...

True, didnt think about them being scratches. I just have a beautiful set and I like to keep it looking its best.

Re: Scuff Marks on drum heads

Every man to his own, but I honestly can't see how that bothers you. Scuffed heads are a fact of playing the drums. If you want your heads to look new all the time then don't hit them. That's the only solution unless you want to constantly stock drums with new heads. You might be able to lessen the markings with stuff like scratch remover, but my advice is to let it go, it isn't a big deal.

I agree with Butter on this one, just let it slide. Nobody looks at your heads if they're checking out your set; they can be replaced. They're supposed to have scuffs on them after you've been playing them.

Also wood tips help, I got new emperors about 2 weeks ago and some new wood tip sticks. The emps have about 4-5 hours on them and are hardly scuffed.

Re: Scuff Marks on drum heads

no biggie. theyre drum heads! they will get scuffed up even with wood tips. drum heads are meant to be hit and scuffed. just like a towel. they are used to clean things, so you cant complain if they get dirty.
