Exclamation Pearl P902 vs. DW 3002

I'm on a tight budget and I'm stuck between these two pedals. Help me decide guys!

Re: Pearl P902 vs. DW 3002

I have the 3000 series hi-hat stand and I have 7002 series pedals. I think that the 3000 series is pretty much a replacement of the 7000 series. There are some differences in build, but the two are basically the same as far as I know. I have been happy with my double pedal until very recently, but I am only slightly less happy than before because I think I have out-grown them. My feet are trying to do things that I can't do on my pedals. It may be that I just need to practice with them more, as I can't yet execute on pedals with my feet things that I can do without pedals just tapping, you know? So I am practicing to see if I should just stick to it or if I should get new pedals. Anyway, the 7002 pedals are great, I love them. The 3000 series hi-hat stand is great as well. Unless you want expensive hardware, I see no need to buy anything more expensive as far as hi-hat stands go. I don't like Pearl very much, I would go with the DWs.

Haha I got an Iron Cobra belt drive hihat stand for $50 before I got my drums, so I'm good for a hihat stand

Re: Pearl P902 vs. DW 3002

I wasn't advising you on a hi-hat stand. It's just that the 3000 series and 7000 series hardware from DW are relatively the same. I have 7000 bass pedals and 3000 hi hat pedals. Because of this I believe I have an informed opinion on the 3002 series pedals vs. Pearl hardware based on my other experience.

I'm trying to decide between these two pedals as well. I like the single post casting and dual chain of the 3002 but I like the footboard and the Powershifter adjustment.

Re: Pearl P902 vs. DW 3002

I have the 902. I'm really impressed by it. You get a lot of power and you can get very fast, and comfortable really quick on it. It of course comes with the powershifter adjustment which is pretty unique. It's easy to adjust (as far as spring tension and other adjustments) It has a good hoop clamp and the anchors hold down good, but do need a tune up every now and then. The slave pedal does a good job of keeping up with the primary with not too much lag, and is pretty responsive.
You won't be disappointed with it. It's a great choice. Don't be afraid to shop around and for best price and such. Good Luck.
