Question Snare side head??

Hey forum!
I've decided that I want new heads for my snare. Right now I'm using an Evans Genera coated on the batter (tuned really high), and the factory head on the snare side. My question is: how much of a difference would it really make?
I assume changing the batter head would affect it a lot, as it did with my toms. Right now I'm considering an Aquarian Hi-definition Snare head for the batter. I've heard good things, and it looks cool (BLACK!!). But what I really want to know about is the snare side! I KNOW the mystery of the snare side head! I really want to know HOW to choose these, and what difference does it make. Right now I'm looking at Evans Hazy 200, or maybe 300 (what's the difference?) for the snare side.
Can anyone answer the huge question of what difference do they really make? Also can anyone offer any suggestions on other potential heads?

what type of over all snare sound are you trying to achieve? I'm assuming you are wanting less buzz more pop, with your choices of heads and tuning...

I think 200 might be more sensitive then 300, so with 200 you hear more snair rattle/ buzz...

In that case I might go for the 300....
And I have a steel snare drum, so it usually sounds better tuned higher, but I guess I want a note that's maybe mid-range, or a little higher.

Any famous snare examples?
My steel is tuned like Chad Smith's.

Re: Snare side head??

Well, it's tuned as high as I can get it. Which is pretty high, but my snare is really old, and the lugs get pretty stiff the higher I go, so it doesn't go too high....
It's hard to compare it to Chad's snare, because it's so different, but I'd say it's a little bit lower than his..... not much though. I'd LIKE it a little lower than it is now, but the heads don't allow it.....

Sounds to me like your snare drum has Osteo-Arthritis.

Haha yeah well it is getting old! I'm considering getting one of those stair climbers for it, to get it on the snare stand. Maybe for Christmas!
And I guess the way I want it to be tuned it around Bonham's range.
