Gibraltar makes some really durable hihat stands.

Re: Hi-Hat Stand

I've got one Pearl and one Gibraltar.
They're both very nice and sturdy.
The Gibraltar's legs swivel, which is a nice feature; although in the Pearl's defense the legs are plenty wide enough to slide a slave pedal in there.
The Pearl is maintenance free.
The Gibraltar needs a going over every once in a while with a drum key because some parts loosen up and WILL end up on the floor while you're laying the best groove of the night.

I am currently using a DW 9000, for some reason my clutch keeps raising my top hat, no matter if I use the one I received it with or my old one.

Re: Hi-Hat Stand

S.A.L., how do you mean the legs swivel? Also does anyone have one of those remote stands with the cable, or one that only has two legs instead of three. Im a double bass player so the less obstruction of my left foot placement the better.

Re: Hi-Hat Stand

Swiveling legs give you the option to turn the legs one direction or the other to allow room for more pedals, typically a double base slave pedal.

All of the high end hardware makers have a swivel foot hi hat stand feature and many of them have a two leg option also.

I use a remote hi hat as well as skinslapper and a few others here. In my set up I use a rack system which allows me to have a DW two leg swivel hi hat stand, a remote hi hat pedal and a double base slave pedal all right next to each other on the left foot.

Tama or Dw or Pearl best bet dude get the clamp on to a cymbal stand man if you want to clutch it you can attach the wire and pedal it cuts down on weight and you can put it anywhere around the kit without the legs getting in the way.....DW 9000 Series Remote Hi-Hat 2 FootOnly $299.99 - Discount Music Equipment

Re: Hi-Hat Stand

Well today i finally got my stand opened up and fixed. It works again, but i still want a new stand because i feel seriously restricted and limited in my playing with the current stand. For example, When i play sixteenth note hi hat patterns it makes it really hard to transition between my hi-hat and snare drum. Also as i said it makes it alot harder to manuever a double bass slave pedal.

So im imagining my new kit set up, and im trying to get my hi-hat directly in front of my snare drum; not to my left like the traditional right-hand set-up. I switched my 3 tom set up a month ago to just one rack tom and a floor and i've become very accustomed to it. Only problem is i miss having that tom to hit but i like the mobility and ease for me to move around the kit.

So has anyone messed around with hi hat placement here? If you have please post a link to some pictures so i can get some ideas here. Right now im thinking of putting my Mid tom (not in use right now) on a snare stand to the left of the snare drum; symetrical with my floor tom. Then possibly have my hi hat pedal and slave pedal between my snare and mid tom, but some-how have the hi hat in front of the snare, not to the left. You guys think this could work? or do you even understand what the heck im talking about??!?

All you feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thankyou.
