Re: No heads

I went through my no-reso period back in the late 70's. I had a Pearl wood/fiberglass kit with a 24/13/14/16/18, and a rack of Slingerland concert toms. Tuning was much easier, but in the long run, I have concluded that for me, that short "blap" or "doink" sound on the toms just doesn't do it. But I must admit, that 24" kick was a @#$ing cannon without the front head on it. My kit now has an 18" kick...with the front head on. I admit it...the older I get, the smaller my kit becomes. Last time I was in the studio with it, the engineer commented that it sounded much bigger than he thought it would. Guess you could count me as a believer in reso heads.
