I've had the single one, and I think it's amazing. There is nothing really bad about it. One thing that I love is that it has the different interchangeable cams. I have the red one on right now, which is used for speed

Re: Pearl Eliminator Powershifter double kick.

I have a pearl eliminator, I have the board slided up, the back setting is way too heavy. The model is 2000, I got it about 2005. I play single pedal.

The cams are nice looking pieces of plastic, I tend to stick with the fast cam, the oblong red one, tried the others, but just stuck to the fast cam. This is the same sort of cam you will find on the iron cobras and DW9000s. I think over time if you play constant is high, the cams will wear out; you wouldn't want this to happen in the middle of a performance.

The overall construction is robust. I noticed a few drummers on other sites have split the DW9000 footplates and preferred their old eliminator. The Pearl Eliminator footplate is strong. The footplate has a nice spread, accomodating the foot.

The Poweshifter mechanism is a waste of time. Well...maybe I didn't get it. The heavy back setting, is just way too heavy, I couldn't understand who would play that setting, they are only good for single strokes. I play heel-toe and slide doubles a lot, this heavy setting is no good at all!

The beater is adequate, different types of mallet. I have never changed the beater.

The tension spring is adequate. There is an adjustment that has three notch settings to adjust the footplate height which is also fixed to the beater-2-head angle. This is where it fails for me. For this reason I bought a Tama Iron Cobra flexi-glide, which has more adjustments like full footplate height and beater angle adjustment. Everything I was looking for.

The problem with the Iron Cobra is the footplate size. I have a size 9/1/2 UK size foot, the Iron Cobra footplate is too small. Again playing heel-toe and slide, my toes would have to over shoot the front of the footplate to get the 'sweetspot'.

In the end I went back to the Pearl Eliminator and gave up on the Iron Cobra desired adjustabilities and I adjusted over a few months; pushed myself to the Eliminator again; it just has the footplate I desire.
