can heads be transferred?

My snare drum just broke on me. I have another drum with no wires or resonant head and a stock head on top. i want to just put my heads and wires from my drum onto that drum and continue playing but i dont know if thats a good thing or not. i know that heads seat and adhere to the shape of the drum so what should i do.?

Re: can heads be transferred?

yeah i have had to do this a couple of times in the marching drum world, year shure drum heads do stretch and warp a little to alot depending on things like tightness of the lugs being different, were u typically play but if it means the difference between being able to play and not there is no problem switching out the heads. ur not going to get the perfect seating on the bearing edge and tonallity u would get by buying a new head at first but hey i do it all the time and it has not hurt anything in my eight years of playing.

I would definately use this a temporary fixx. Do not do this for a long term fix. Do it long enough to get a new head.

I'm still using Hanson's snare batter and As I lay Dying's floor tom batter as my rack tom head.

Since last sunday night I stopped using AILD floor tom head. Though my Ec2 head lasted me a year or so.
