Smile New Double Kick Pedal

Hi Guys! I'm new to these forums, so I'm still working out what's what.
Alright, well, I'm 15 and got into playing set a year or two ago now. I recently ran into some money, enough for any double bass pedal I want. Question is, what should I be getting? What is the best hands down? Also, looking at heads for bass, so what would be the best heads for my bass drum? Really want that dark deep sound basses should make. Thanks!

Re: New Double Kick Pedal

Trick, and save a couple bucks of the money for future purchases. I purchased mine off ebay and it works like new. Only problem I had was that my slave beater connection fell off, though I was able to fix that easily with out modifying or buying a new part. And If you have a heavy foot, like a friend of mine does you might need to adjust it a bit. Though If GWAR's drummer can use one with out a problem its most likely just my personal setting.

Re: New Double Kick Pedal

I would say for anything probably trick, because they go fast and dont feel TOO very different from most, but go to your local music store and try as many as you can. For the bass head, get a Aquarian superkick I or superkick II (depending on if you like single ply or double ply, they sound virtually the same) with a regulator (ported) for the resonant head.

Re: New Double Kick Pedal

I notice everyone on here is saying Trick (bigfoots or pro-v i assume). They feel very good and are probably the best for all around use. They do not however have the same speed as the axis. You really need to try them both. I did and I prefer the axis (a series because i need lots of easily obtained speed. As far as heads, Evans GMAD are very thick single ply heads and are the darkest, lowest ones I've ever heard.

Re: New Double Kick Pedal

I would definitely recommend the Aquarian Superkick II which is a 2-ply head with a built-in muffling ring. I use this on my bass drum and it sounds awesome!

Re: New Double Kick Pedal

Evans eq4, with a bit of dampening for the head, it has more mid range than the eq3, more boom.

I can recomend pearl eliminators, especially if this is your first big pedal purchase. They are incredibly versatile, feel amazing and will help you to figure out what you want in future pedals. As always, try before you buy.
